Symbolic Meanings of Fall/Autumn

Ancient cultures, science, and astrology have associated many aspects of Fall to human life. These symbolic associations are powerful reminders that God has an incredible influence on our lives.

I realize that Autumn is the best time for self-reflection, awareness, and mindfulness. Take some time to explore these four (4) symbolic meanings of the season that I find directly reflect us as Black woman.

1. Change - Greek philosopher Heraclitus once said, "The only constant is change." Fall reminds us that our bodies, minds, and surroundings are always developing or TransiTioning. This is the premise of our name and Motto: "Transitions are Essential if you are really true to self"

2. Mystery - Thanks to the changing nature of life, each and every day presents us with new mysteries. The crisp fall air and changing leaves personify these unknowns. Once we accept those unknowns, we have more capacity to live life to the fullest without fear and pretense.

3. Comfort - Fall is prime time for seeking comfort in the midst of dropping temperatures. Creating a serene and snug space is one of the best perks of autumn. It also gives you a chance to learn about what makes you feel warm and safe. This also reinforces that you can control your time, space and the energies that you allow into your mind, body and spirit.

4. Balance - Day and night are the same length during the autumnal equinox. As a result, ancient cultures have always associated this day with the concept of balance. The sun also enters Libra, which is symbolized by a pair of balanced scales. Autumn grants us a chance to harmonize with the Earth and tap into the balance within ourselves.

Within our moments of mindfulness, we should be confident of our internal and external beauty as Black Women - we should have knowledge of our history and be unapologetic of our Dynamic Powers.
